The shooting industry is booming The Countryside Alliance’s Game-to-Eat campaign has revealed the results of a new survey of shoots, and it’s good news for game: 90% of shoots feel the market is at least as strong as five years ago and well over half feel it is stronger.

The Repeal Committee meets for the first time

Heythrop Huntsman Julian Barnfield and Bicester Huntsman Patrick Martin have joined the newly formed Repeal Committee Simon Hart introduces the new Committee tasked with seeing off the Hunting Act: On Wednesday 25th June 2008, the leaders of the hunting world, including professional hunt staff, supportive politicians and Alliance staff, gathered in London for the inaugural meeting of the ‘Repeal Committee’, which will guide the campaign for the repeal of the Hunting Act in the run up to the next election.

Olympic hopeful coming to Vauxhall

Image Vauxhall City Farm is welcoming top equestrian Sam Martin into their paddock to give a dressage demonstration on Saturday 12th July 2008.  Sam, who hopes to represent Nigeria at the London Olympics in 2012, started to learn to ride on one of the Farm’s donkeys. He will demonstrate why he is at the top of his game and also answer any questions you have for him during a Q & A session.

2008 Photographic Competition winners

Can't I go too? Careful '06, North Staffordshire Hunt by Alastair Campbell (July) After much debate by the judges, the winners of our 2008 Photographic Competition have finally been chosen. This year’s competition had more than 360 entries and the judges; Countryside Alliance Chief Executive Simon Hart; Countryside Alliance President Ann Mallalieu; and photographers Amanda Lockhart and Jake Eastham, were very impressed with the standard of all the entries but finally agreed on the following 13 winning images.

Vote for environmental lottery grants

Image The Moors for the Future partnership, which does valuable work in the Peak District moors, has been nominated for a £2000 National Lottery Award. The partnership is competing against nine other projects for the title of Best Environment Project. You can vote for your favourite project here. Voting is open until midday on 4th July. The three projects with the most votes in your category will progress into the final round.
